Executive Summary

Why instructional design? Why e-learning management? Why learning design?

I enjoy learning and I want others to enjoy the learning process as much as I do.

The challenge, then, is how to design learning experiences so that learners are excited about learning.

In my experience as an undergraduate educator, if learner’s perception of a subject/topic is positively influenced through effective instructional design, the renewed attitude will inspire confidence in knowledge retention and application.

The projects in this portfolio seek to highlight and illustrate learner centered design that creates and sustains a positive attitude with practical steps for application. A recurring topic in the samples of my designs is single-stream recycling, which I chose as the focus of several design projects as a way of understanding and designing for diverse learning populations that can learn and retain a useful skill that benefits their community and environment.

Through effective instructional design and engaging, interactive learning experiences, we can instruct learners in a meaningful way with measurable and positive impacts.
